The path to a new career

You may find yourself at a point in your life where you want a new career. This could be after having a career break to have children or just a stale point in your current career that has left you wanting more. Whatever the reason it’s very common to take a new career path later on in your working life.

For some people, they may think that certain careers are out of reach due to lack of qualifications achieved at school but this no longer needs to hold you back as universities now offer access courses specifically designed as an introduction into a course where you are lacking the normal entry requirements.

Its first important to have a think about what you’d most like to do as a career then research the role as much as you can and see if you can find a route into the job. You could also obtain some professional career advice. Next, apply to any appropriate courses and look into what loans/grant you would be entitled to whilst you were studying so that you could still support yourself and any dependents you may have. Knowledge is power so it’s worth putting the time into researching the best options for you and not being put off by the road ahead.
