Teaching is job that requires quite a lot of training before you become qualified, therefore it is important to try and establish if it is definitely the right career for you before committing to a 4 year course a uni.

If you haven’t done your GCSE’s or A levels then you may be in for a much longer stint at college / uni before graduating as a teacher. Why not be a teaching assistant for a while in a school to get a real feel for what the day is like. Some teaching assistants are able to cover the class for short periods of time, so you may actually find yourself trying out teaching sooner than you thought. This is a great way to gain hands on experience in a classroom environment and also to allow you to see how the job would be once you had qualified and had your own class to teach.
